Don´t have a ton of time to update kids, but I´ll give you a quick run down:
Sat- Made it into Quito alive. Altitude sickness hit me lick a rock right at the start but I´ve gotten much better. Apparently they have pills for this kind of thing and they´re awesome! Ended up taking one of the students, hannah, on a wild goose chase around Quito trying to find a hostel only to end up at the MAgic Bean where other UCLA people were. Apparently there was room despite some emails saying otherwise the day before. Slept well except for when the Chiva (party bus) drove by at 2am.
Sun-headed into Cayambe and stayed at the Hacienda Guachila for the night (where the students from UCLA are staying). Had 8hrs of meetings about how this project is going to run differently from previous years. I got the staff job of laundry wench and am incharge of making sure to we get a laundry schedule set up. Nothing too hard. Works for me. Also reunited with a bunch of staff: martin, barry, ally, siobhan, scottie, erik, etc. Good times!
Mon- Hike up to Quitoloma (Incan fortress) at 13500ft. Good times! Excellent views; beautiful day. Love spending time up there amongst the rocks! ended up going into Cayambe to buy lunch supplies for tomorrow.
Tues-Stuck setting up the casa communal for the staff and Foothill kids on friday. Stayed in a windowsless apartment last night ona mattress on the floor. Despite 8hrs of hard labor moving the padre out (moving fridges and sofas) and assembling 30 plus wooden framed beds, the upgrade in living conditions will be nice.
And now I´m off to more adventures. till later, gators!
